Yoga remains a difficult issue to discuss in this century. It is a pity that modern day globalization has caused this amazing ancient art to be viewed as a distant and mysterious concept. The whole philosophy of yoga has been reduced to a simpler concept to help people understand the concept better. In essence, the contents of yoga, in its entirety may be a little complicated for westerners to understand. Talking about an issue you do not have a thorough understanding of, and spreading the words as the gospel truth is a risky business. Unfortunately, the western world seems to place the physical aspects of yoga as the main focus. Yoga has been reduced to a physical activity to achieve internal balance and serenity.

It is one of the six schools of Hindu thoughts has roots deep within the pages of the Hindu Holy Scriptures. Yoga as a part of India’s diverse culture and philosophy is actually a spiritual experience that includes some complicated physical moves. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. Yoga with its strange looking symbols may seem mystical to the average Joe, is often enough to perk up a considerable level of interest in the hidden aspects of this ancient practice, but sadly, they are often misunderstood. This discipline is practiced as a popular sport. The allure of yoga as an effective way to gain inner peace and balance has beckoned many to embrace this activity as well.

Disciples of yoga are often fascinated by the claims made by their yoga instructors. Research shows that yoga has been highly misunderstood in the west and therefore plenty of fatal errors were detected in the way yoga is implemented. Different groups practicing yoga have its own cultural structure and these influences are responsible for those fatal errors detected in the practice of this ancient art. It appears that the west is not prepared to pay the price necessary to gain a deeper understanding of this philosophy. For instance, meditation is the crux of this philosophy but busy Americans do not possess the time to spend in a few hours of relative sessions every day. The greed for power and material wealth which is integral in the western culture has no place in the Hindu culture. True wisdom, as defined by the parameters of the Hindu religion would be an impossible feat to achieve when this paradigm is adopted. One needs to possess both time and patience to fully reap the rewards of a successful meditative session. Obviously, the people from the west have no endurance to fulfill such demands.

Here, yoga as been practiced by those who desire to look good and stay in style. There is a lot of information going out promoting yoga as a form of sports; in fact you can grab any of those and start practicing yoga anywhere you want to. Fans of famous people who later become fake gurus are adamant about supporting their idol and his practice. These followers have become the pillars supporting the growth of this false and wrong philosophy.
