yoga exercises

Yoga with its mystical enigma and allure proves to be a rather difficult subject to discuss in today’s modern world. Globalization seems to have vanquished the real meaning and purpose of this miraculous ancient art. The real philosophy behind yoga may be complex, but modern day interpretation of yoga has reduced the confusing structure into a simpler form. In fact, the western civilization might find the full contents of yoga to be a rather difficult subject to relate to. In order to be viewed as a person of wisdom, some people who have been exposed to this ancient art have invested their time to learn a little more, only to gain a superficial understanding of the real essence of yoga and then proceed to talk about it as though they are the recognized experts. Yoga is often viewed as a physical journey, instead of a spiritual one in the western part of the world. Yoga has been reduced to a physical activity that focuses merely on achieving internal balance and meditation.

In reality, yoga practice is a very sacred journey that has roots buried deep within the scriptures of an ancient Holy book. In the faraway land of India, it is recognized as a spiritual practice that includes a series of complex and systematic physical moves. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. Yoga with its strange looking symbols may seem mystical to the average Joe, is often enough to perk up a considerable level of interest in the hidden aspects of this ancient practice, but sadly, they are often misunderstood. Ironically, it is practiced as a popular form of sports. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle.

The so called experts in this industry have been quick to use these promises and people have been fascinated. There is plenty of evidence to show that yoga has been wrongly implemented in the West.

A closer look revealed that these errors were caused by the cultural influence of each race. In order to truly understand this concept moments of quiet, peaceful times are necessary to contemplate on this philosophy, and that is certainly an element that is absent in the hectic lifestyle of the western civilization. While meditation is an integral part of the practice, the westerners with their ever busy lifestyles certainly do not posses time for such luxuries. The principle of Hinduism that governs the yoga practice does not recognize the greed for power and wealth, which is obviously a value of prime importance in the western world. Unless these values are changed, it is impossible for westerners to achieve the true wisdom and enlightenment as defined by the parameters of the Hindu religion. Patience and time is crucial for meditation. Obviously, the people from the west have no endurance to fulfill such demands.

Practicing yoga seems congruent with the need to look good to fulfill their stylish lifestyles. It is easy to practice yoga anywhere you want; there are plenty of materials for you to select from that are promoting this activity as a form of sports. Even the famous people who are fake yoga gurus have garnered a lot of support from their disciples. Obedient disciples of this distorted form of yoga have become agents of growth of this unhealthy philosophy.
