advanced yoga poses
March 18th, 2009 9:01 amThe modern day civilization may find yoga a rather tough subject to discuss. The real concept of this ancient art has long been forgotten, buried within the demanding lifestyle of modern day globalization. The real philosophy behind yoga may be complex, but modern day interpretation of yoga has reduced the confusing structure into a simpler form. The complex nature of its contents may be a little challenging for westerners to understand. It is wrong to assume a position of authority on a particular subject when you have only grasped the basics of the matter. Yoga is often viewed as a physical journey, instead of a spiritual one in the western part of the world. The need for simplification has diminished the wisdom of true yoga into a superficial speech that fails to recognize the real purpose and meaning of this wonderful philosophy.
This unique practice is actually a religious journey, a representation of one of the Hindu schools of thought. Any Indian would assure you that it is a spiritual experience that is manifested through a series of complicated physical practice. The westerner’s viewpoint that yoga is a physical activity is very wrong and distorted. The hidden intricacies of this mysterious practice with its strange looking symbols may be successful in making the average westerner aware that there are more to yoga than physical moves alone, but nevertheless they are often misunderstood. This discipline is practiced as a popular sport. Nevertheless many have been attracted to yoga as a form of practice to achieve inner peace and balance.
Almost all who proclaim themselves as yoga masters perpetrate these claims and the masses are undoubtedly fascinated. There is plenty of evidence to show that yoga has been wrongly implemented in the West. Closer observation reveals that the unique culture of each race has dramatically influenced the way yoga is practiced. Apparently, the west is not prepared to spend too much time in meaningful contemplations of this philosophy, hence the resulting fatal error due to a lack of understanding. For instance, meditation is the crux of this philosophy but busy Americans do not possess the time to spend in a few hours of relative sessions every day. The Hindus have a different set of value system that is very different from the west, and places low importance in the mere accumulation of physical wealth. Therefore, it is believed that the westerners will never reach the pinnacles of true wisdom dictated by the parameters of the Hindu religion. One crucial aspect essential for a successful meditative session is time and patience. The west seems cursed with the obsession to pursue the goal of building better lives in the form of lavish lifestyles and not in the philosophical way.
Yoga becomes a stylish endeavor instead of a spiritual experience. There are plenty of materials promoting it as a form of sports; you can practice yoga anywhere and anytime you want. Fans of famous people who later become fake gurus are adamant about supporting their idol and his practice. Obedient disciples of this distorted form of yoga have become agents of growth of this unhealthy philosophy.
