benefits of bikram yoga

In today’s modern world, discussing an age-old concept such as yoga can be rather challenging. It is a pity that modern day globalization has caused this amazing ancient art to be viewed as a distant and mysterious concept. It is amazing to see the whole philosophy fuelling yoga’s methodology being reduced to a simple concept, justified by the need to make it easy for the layperson to understand. The complex nature of its contents may be a little challenging for westerners to understand. It is a very dangerous and unethical to merely dabble on the surface and then talks about this subject as an expert! The West tends to focus on the physical aspects of yoga. The once respected and revered philosophy has been reduced to a mere speech of attaining inner balance and peace.

It has its origins in the Hindu religion and is a physical manifestation representing one of the six schools of Hindu thought. Indians understand that is not a mere physical activity, but yoga is part of a spiritual development that is realized through a systematic and disciplined physical approach. But the western world prefers to refer yoga as a mere physical practice. Most westerners are aware of the strange symbols associated with yoga practice, but often they are misunderstood. Operating from the wrong paradigm, yoga became a form of sports in the western world. The allure of yoga as an effective way to gain inner peace and balance has beckoned many to embrace this activity as well.

This perception is often strengthened by the various claims made by the so called yoga masters. Research shows that yoga has been highly misunderstood in the west and therefore plenty of fatal errors were detected in the way yoga is implemented. The culture and structure of each different group influenced how yoga is being practiced. In order to truly understand this concept moments of quiet, peaceful times are necessary to contemplate on this philosophy, and that is certainly an element that is absent in the hectic lifestyle of the western civilization. Most Americans do not possess the time to spend moments in meaningful sessions of quiet meditation, which is essential for success when embracing this practice. Westerners have different goals and priorities, and the insatiable desire to accumulate massive amounts of wealth certainly has no place in the system of values among the Hindus. Therefore, it is believed that the westerners will never reach the pinnacles of true wisdom dictated by the parameters of the Hindu religion. Patience and time is crucial for meditation. It places high degree of importance in the mere acquisition of wealth and power.

Practicing yoga seems congruent with the need to look good to fulfill their stylish lifestyles. There is a lot of information going out promoting yoga as a form of sports; in fact you can grab any of those and start practicing yoga anywhere you want to. Even fake gurus have support from their adoring disciples. This crooked philosophy has been widely spread by its loyal followers.
