shiva rea 500 hour yoga teacher training
July 26th, 2009 5:01 amIn today’s modern world, discussing an age-old concept such as yoga can be rather challenging. It is a pity that modern day globalization has caused this amazing ancient art to be viewed as a distant and mysterious concept. The whole philosophy of yoga has been reduced to a simpler concept to help people understand the concept better. The complex nature of its contents may be a little challenging for westerners to understand. It is a very dangerous and unethical to merely dabble on the surface and then talks about this subject as an expert! Unfortunately, the western world seems to place the physical aspects of yoga as the main focus. Today, yoga in the west has been reduced to a simplified form of practice that focuses on achieving internal peace and meditative states.
It is one of the six schools of Hindu thoughts has roots deep within the pages of the Hindu Holy Scriptures. In the faraway land of India, it is recognized as a spiritual practice that includes a series of complex and systematic physical moves. It is unfortunate that the western world would approach yoga as a mere physical activity. The strange symbols related to the yoga practice have created some awareness among the westerners that there is more to yoga than the physical aspects, but they are often misunderstood. It is practiced as a popular sport. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle.
This perception is often strengthened by the various claims made by the so called yoga masters. The numerous amount of fatal errors found in the practice of yoga outside of India shows that this art has been widely misunderstood at large. Different groups practicing yoga have its own cultural structure and these influences are responsible for those fatal errors detected in the practice of this ancient art. It appears that the west is not prepared to pay the price necessary to gain a deeper understanding of this philosophy. Most Americans do not possess the time to spend moments in meaningful sessions of quiet meditation, which is essential for success when embracing this practice. The greed for power and material wealth which is integral in the western culture has no place in the Hindu culture. Unless these values are changed, it is impossible for westerners to achieve the true wisdom and enlightenment as defined by the parameters of the Hindu religion. One crucial aspect essential for a successful meditative session is time and patience. This is what the westerners lack.
Practicing yoga seems congruent with the need to look good to fulfill their stylish lifestyles. If you are interested to take up yoga as a part of your lifestyle, you can get hold of some of those materials that are available, promoting this practice as a form of sports. Even the famous people who are fake yoga gurus have garnered a lot of support from their disciples. This crooked philosophy has been widely spread by its loyal followers.
