Yoga does not seem to command the same form of respect from modern day society as it once did in the past. The real concept of this ancient art has long been forgotten, buried within the demanding lifestyle of modern day globalization. Most people choose to describe yoga as a simple concept rather than a complex philosophy in order to help people understand better. The complex nature of its contents may be a little challenging for westerners to understand. Talking about an issue you do not have a thorough understanding of, and spreading the words as the gospel truth is a risky business. The West tends to focus on the physical aspects of yoga. Yoga has been reduced to a physical activity that focuses merely on achieving internal balance and meditation.

This unique practice is actually a religious journey, a representation of one of the Hindu schools of thought. Any Indian would assure you that it is a spiritual experience that is manifested through a series of complicated physical practice. Viewing yoga as a physical activity is definitely a mistake. Yoga with its strange looking symbols may seem mystical to the average Joe, is often enough to perk up a considerable level of interest in the hidden aspects of this ancient practice, but sadly, they are often misunderstood. Ironically, it is practiced as a popular form of sports. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle.

Almost all who proclaim themselves as yoga masters perpetrate these claims and the masses are undoubtedly fascinated. There is plenty of evidence to show that yoga has been wrongly implemented in the West. These errors were caused by each racial group’s internal culture and form. The western busy lifestyles certainly do not provide much space to contemplate on this philosophy. While meditation is an integral part of the practice, the westerners with their ever busy lifestyles certainly do not posses time for such luxuries. Westerners have different goals and priorities, and the insatiable desire to accumulate massive amounts of wealth certainly has no place in the system of values among the Hindus. Perhaps the western man shall never reach the peaks of wisdom according to the parameters set by the Hindu religion and culture. To gain maximum benefits from each meditation session, one needs to spare time and exercise tremendous patience in carrying out each essential part of the practice. This is what the westerners lack.

Yoga has been accepted as a fashion. There is a lot of information going out promoting yoga as a form of sports; in fact you can grab any of those and start practicing yoga anywhere you want to. Even fake gurus have support from their adoring disciples. These followers have become the pillars supporting the growth of this false and wrong philosophy.
