Yoga with its mystical enigma and allure proves to be a rather difficult subject to discuss in today’s modern world. Globalization seems to have vanquished the real meaning and purpose of this miraculous ancient art. The real philosophy behind yoga may be complex, but modern day interpretation of yoga has reduced the confusing structure into a simpler form. In fact, the western civilization might find the full contents of yoga to be a rather difficult subject to relate to. It is disturbing to see a lot of people obtaining shallow understanding of this complex subject and yet remaining unhesitant to talk about it from an expert’s point of view. Unfortunately, the western world seems to place the physical aspects of yoga as the main focus. The rich philosophies behind yoga practice have been reduced into a simple form of art that focuses merely on achieving inner balance and peace.

It originates from the Hindu religion and it is actually a part of the Hindu philosophy. In the faraway land of India, it is recognized as a spiritual practice that includes a series of complex and systematic physical moves. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. Yoga with its strange looking symbols may seem mystical to the average Joe, is often enough to perk up a considerable level of interest in the hidden aspects of this ancient practice, but sadly, they are often misunderstood. It is practiced as a popular sport. The allure of yoga as an effective way to gain inner peace and balance has beckoned many to embrace this activity as well.

Almost all who proclaim themselves as yoga masters perpetrate these claims and the masses are undoubtedly fascinated. Fatal errors have been detected in the practice of yoga outside of India, showing the level of misunderstanding among the western practitioners. The culture and structure of each different group influenced how yoga is being practiced. The western busy lifestyles certainly do not provide much space to contemplate on this philosophy. Sometimes, the most important part of this practice is neglected, for instance the essential meditation. The greed for power and material wealth which is integral in the western culture has no place in the Hindu culture. Therefore, it is believed that the westerners will never reach the pinnacles of true wisdom dictated by the parameters of the Hindu religion. One needs to possess both time and patience to fully reap the rewards of a successful meditative session. Obsessed with the need to accumulate as much wealth as possible, therefore the thought of having to spend time in such sessions would be considered a mere waste of precious time.

Practicing yoga seems congruent with the need to look good to fulfill their stylish lifestyles. It is easy to practice yoga anywhere you want; there are plenty of materials for you to select from that are promoting this activity as a form of sports. There are famous people who embraced this practice and become fake gurus and still they have enough support from their followers. The disciples of these fake gurus are responsible for spreading the influence of the wrong philosophy pertaining to yoga practice.
