It takes mental toughness and patience to discuss yoga in this century. Globalization seems to have a devastating impact on this ancient concept. In an attempt to make things easier, people have reduced a whole philosophy into one simple concept. Western civilization may find its contents to be mystical and complex, thus finds it hard to understand. It is always a risky affair to talk about a complex subject by merely grasping the basics. Yoga is mainly perceived as a physical activity in the western part of the world. Yoga has been reduced to a physical activity that focuses merely on achieving internal balance and meditation.

It has its origins in the Hindu religion and is a physical manifestation representing one of the six schools of Hindu thought. Any Indian would assure you that it is a spiritual experience that is manifested through a series of complicated physical practice. Viewing yoga as a physical activity is definitely a mistake. The strange symbols related to the yoga practice have created some awareness among the westerners that there is more to yoga than the physical aspects, but they are often misunderstood. It is practiced as a popular sport. Nevertheless many have been attracted to yoga as a form of practice to achieve inner peace and balance.

Almost all who proclaim themselves as yoga masters perpetrate these claims and the masses are undoubtedly fascinated. The numerous amount of fatal errors found in the practice of yoga outside of India shows that this art has been widely misunderstood at large. Different groups practicing yoga have its own cultural structure and these influences are responsible for those fatal errors detected in the practice of this ancient art. It appears that the west is not prepared to pay the price necessary to gain a deeper understanding of this philosophy. While meditation is an integral part of the practice, the westerners with their ever busy lifestyles certainly do not posses time for such luxuries. Westerners have different goals and priorities, and the insatiable desire to accumulate massive amounts of wealth certainly has no place in the system of values among the Hindus. Unless these values are changed, it is impossible for westerners to achieve the true wisdom and enlightenment as defined by the parameters of the Hindu religion. To gain maximum benefits from each meditation session, one needs to spare time and exercise tremendous patience in carrying out each essential part of the practice. Obsessed with the need to accumulate as much wealth as possible, therefore the thought of having to spend time in such sessions would be considered a mere waste of precious time.

Practicing yoga seems congruent with the need to look good to fulfill their stylish lifestyles. If you are interested to take up yoga as a part of your lifestyle, you can get hold of some of those materials that are available, promoting this practice as a form of sports. Even the famous people who are fake yoga gurus have garnered a lot of support from their disciples. The disciples of these fake gurus are responsible for spreading the influence of the wrong philosophy pertaining to yoga practice.
